Shiraz began his career by working in spices and timber exporting, based out of Mombasa, Kenya. He subsequently moved to London, UK in 1971 where he opened a wholesale cash and carry business. His next move was to India, from where his pharmaceutical enterprise began exporting generic medicines to what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
From a single pilot plant in Lubumbashi in 2001, Chemaf has grown into a full-fledged mineral exploration, mining and processing company with ambitions to become one of the largest copper and cobalt producers in the world.
