Soorya is Executive Director at Lloyds & Thriveni Group and Managing Director Designate for Chemaf. A mechanical engineer by training, with a degree from PSG Tech Institute in Coimbatore, India, he leads the Group’s international expansion efforts, with a current focus on building, operationalizing, and ramping up Chemaf’s orebody in the DRC.

Prior to this role, Soorya served as CEO of Thriveni’s iron ore business in Odisha, where he increased production from 20 mtpa to 40 mtpa in two years. He also maintained oversight of Thriveni’s HEMM engineering rebuild centre, which has rebuilt more than USD 4 billion of heavy earthmoving machinery assets.

As a Group Executive of the family investment office, Soorya sits on the Group’s Investment Committee, which holds a major shareholding in Lloyds Metals and Energy, a Mumbai-listed company. His investment work spans commodities and jurisdictions, including coal, iron ore, copper, gold, and graphite. He has also led the Group’s entry efforts into Madagascar and the DRC. Known for combining technical depth with professional delivery, Soorya has led culturally diverse, high-performance teams across some of the Group’s most critical operating domains.
