- Local community initiatives: our priority is to focus on projects that are self-sustaining and empower the local community to help itself. To date, we have invested in projects across infrastructure, healthcare and education. Our most significant investment has been in the Shalina Eye Centre. This is a not-for-profit organization for the general public, providing free eye surgering for approx. 320 patients per month. Click here for more information.

- Economic benefits: one of the best ways for us to contribute to the Democratic Republic of Congo is by running an efficient and profitable organisation. To date, we have paid significant sums in local taxes and contributed even more through multiplier effects.

- Employment: we are committed to hiring Congolese people within our operations and to maximizing skills transfer between expatriates and local people. We employ over 2000 Congolese people within our operations and run a successful graduate training scheme.
