Chemaf SPRL acquired the rights to the Etoile mine (license number 577) on 29th November 2003 from La Generale Des Carrieres et Des Mines (Gecamines). Chemaf is an integrated operation comprising of the Etoile open pit mine and the Usoke processing plant for a range of copper and cobalt products.

Chemaf has recently finishing exploration on a nearby concession, known as the 'Etoile Extension', which will provide additional feed to the processing plant.
