Chemaf SPRL was founded in 2001. We were the first company to start producing metals in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We have taken a modular approach to the development of our resources since inception:

Begin construction of pilot plant to produce copper and cobalt carbonate

We commissioned the pilot plant to produce 240 tons/year of copper metal (contained in carbonate) and 500 tons/ year of cobalt metal (contained in carbonate)

Using the pilot plant as a model, we began construction of an expanded process plant to produce cobalt and copper carbonate

We started construction of a sulphuric acid plant, located at the same site as the expanded process plant. We commissioned the sulphuric acid plant in 2005

We commissioned the expanded process plant to produce 2,400 tons/year cobalt metal (contained in carbonate) and 5,000 tons/year copper metal (contained in carbonate).  This expanded plant was commissioned in 2005

We began the first phase of a copper SX/EW facility with design capacity of 16,000 tons copper cathodes annually

We completed the electrowinning side of the SX/EW facility

We commissioned the completed SX/EW facility
