The province of Katanga in the south east of the Democratic Republic of Congo lies on a geological sub-structure known as the Lufilian Arc. This region is known as being one of the richest mineral deposits in the world. Congo is known to have huge deposits of copper, cobalt, tin, gold, diamonds and uranium to name but a few of the commodities that Congo has been richly endowed with.

An integral part of the long-term strategy of Chemaf’s business is to develop an extensive exploration program with the objective of finding new sources of copper, cobalt and other metals to feed into their pipeline of proven reserves. In this regard, Chemaf has applied for and successfully acquired the Permis de Recherche (Exploration Permits) to a huge area of strategic sites located across Katanga.

Chemaf’s exploration team is aggressively looking for the next big discovery and, where appropriate, would choose to pursue these opportunities with joint venture partners who have a strategic interest to invest in the Congo. Chemaf’s excellent reputation of successfully managing mining projects and building processing plants in the DRC makes them an obvious preferred choice of selecting a partner with significant local expertise and resources on the ground.

Chemaf would be interested to hear from mining companies that can offer real synergy and are interested to enter into joint venture exploration opportunities in the DRC.
