Map of Africa, highlighting Lubumbashi

Chemaf SPRL is a Congolese company based in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a part of the privately owned Shalina Group of companies and has been a producer of value-added copper and cobalt products in DRC since August 2001.

The Group has been in business in the DRC for the last 25 years and diversified in the mining and mineral processing industry when the new Mining Code and Investment Code, ratified by the World Bank and the IMF, was passed as part of the peace accord.

Since the time Chemaf was incorporated, a significant amount of private capital has been injected by the Group and the company has successfully secured the mining rights to the Etoile mine which it owns out-right. Chemaf has also successfully secured other high quality concessions either on a sole basis or in joint venture with Gecamines. Chemaf has demonstrated a strong performance in the ability to project manage the construction of processing plants in DRC to treat the minerals from the mines it owns.

In addition to the mining concessions which the company owns, Chemaf is perhaps the largest owner of Permis De Recherche (Research Permits) in the DRC. These research permits will form the core of the company’s strategy to become a large-scale producer of metal and metal salts in the DRC.
